Rugby World Cup 2007

Rugby ball under Eiffel tower Fans

The Rugby World Cup 2007 has captured the imagination of more than just passionate rugby fans all over the world. The French have been superb hosts for this splendid tournament. What a start with Argentina beating the hosts France!

I enjoyed a great weekend in Paris and then witnessed the England team against Australia, who showed such strength, resolve and bulldog spirit to control and win this tense match. The fans were fantastic and Vieux Port was heaving with fanatical supporters from all countries. I have been thrilled by the improvement of the younger rugby nations in challenging the status quo at this tournament. The romance continued with the Springboks winning the final match against England in Paris. In 2007 the mantle of the World Champions has been handed over to the "Boks" and the spirit of rugby has exceeded all expectations.

Well done the Boks!! Superb win for the country, it is not often that we can tell the world that we are proud to be South Africans, but we can today. May this continue to be the case for a long, long time!! Nkosi sekelela iafrika!!!

Well done you Boks - not just for the way you played, but for the true sporting manner in which you did it. An example to all.
