Exceed Acetabular Hip Implant Launch

The European launch of the Exceed — Advanced Bearing Technology acetabular system went ahead in October 2006 in Rome at the Rome Hip Symposium.

The acetabular cup comprises of all three bearings surfaces available to orthopaedic surgeons at present: metal, ceramic, and polyethylene — hence Exceed ABT. The different bearing surfaces provide optimum durability for high activity patients as well as for the more sedentary patient. The system was designed by Evert Smith and Robert Bigsby over the last six years. The work could not have been done without the skill of the people on the “shop” floor.
